When we first bought this house we knew the kitchen needed updating. The plan was that when our Duluth house sold we would work on the kitchen. We initially thought we’d get new appliances and probably replace the cabinets. We figured we’d also replace the floor on the whole main living area, since the carpet we have right now is gross and the spaces all run into each other.
So ANYWAY, that wall that separates the living room (carpet area) from the kitchen is going away. In its place will be a big island. We also will no longer have the peninsula on the counter.
Here’s a pic standing at the kitchen sink:
When we decided to replace the carpet we realized we will have to replace the steps going down to the entry of our house. And while we were doing that Aaron had the brilliant idea to get rid of the laminate fake wood down there and put in tile. We are also replacing the bifold doors on the closet down there, because, you know, go big or go home.
This photo is standing by the refrigerator looking away from the window in the kitchen. The fridge is to the right and the wall separating the living spaces is to the left:
Looking down the stairs:
I hope all these pictures make sense to you guys. They do to me, but, I live here.
We are also replacing both sliding doors (up and downstairs) as they are pretty crappy and will need to be replaced in the next 2-3 years. Additionally, we are getting recessed lighting installed in the main living space. It is a lot of work….and a lot of money….but thankfully we are able to pay cash for it all and the work should be done in 6 weeks.
So with that I head off on a women’s retreat and Aaron rips apart the space that I spend 90% of my waking hours. For our last dinner with our crappy stove we will be making omelettes, because I have 36 eggs from Costco that I have no idea what I will do with. Can you microwave eggs?
