Are you guys list makers?
Jen and I are. We love making lists of things we need to get done, things to get at Target, things to get at the grocery store. Oh, and then there is the list of things to get at Trader Joe’s. And the things to get at Costco. Except if you are anything like me, all those lists kind of end up on one giant list and then, when you are on your way to Trader Joe’s you miss that you were supposed to buy tomato soup because it was smashed in between the toilet paper you are supposed to buy at Costco and the Clorox wipes and garbage bags you are supposed to buy at Target. SO ANNOYING.
We have found a way to remedy this situation. Here’s the story.
A while back Jen and I went to Duluth for the weekend. It was fun. On Sunday, before heading home, we had lunch with some friends of mine and Aaron’s. Here they are – Steve and Becky and their little girl Charlotte:
I think this is one of the BEST family pictures EVER. Seriously. SO FREAKING CUTE. And the best part is that Becky is now pregnant with TWINS, so in August this family will have 3 kids under the age of 1. That’s right folks, the twins are due before Charlotte’s first birthday.
Naturally, with all this craziness coming their way in 4 very short months, Steve and Becky needed a way to get organized. So upon walking through their kitchen Jen and I saw this on their refrigerator and thought it was one of the best ideas we’ve seen in a LONG time! (Ok, that isn’t really why they did this, but it makes for a good story.)
Allow me to zoom in:
Isn’t this a GREAT idea? They took five magnetic note pads, made five labels of the most common places that they need to remember to get things from, and just keep a running list! I think the home improvement one is great – we are constantly saying “next time we go to Lowe’s we need to remember to get some screws and some light bulbs.” Yeah, like we EVER remember that.
The nice thing about keeping running lists is that you can easily write down things that you run out of. If you use the last of the baking powder, add it to the list so the next time you are baking something you have it! You clean the bathroom and realize you are almost out of cleaner – add it to the list! Then, the next time you are out, just grab your list and you already know your essentials!
I haven’t started this in my home yet, but I honestly really intend to. There are too many random places we shop and if I can buy the right things at the right places I can really save some money. I really need to clean off my fridge though….there is so much stuff on it! Anyway – what do you guys think? Are you as in LOVE with this idea as we are?
