Happy Monday everyone!
Once again, we hope your weekends were good. Mine was great. On Saturday I zipped up to Duluth for a very fast trip. Some dear friends, Luke and Becca, adopted a baby a couple weeks ago and I went up for Becca’s baby shower! Their little boy, Caleb, is one of the CUTEST babies I have EVER seen. I think everyone says that about babies, but this one is seriously ADORABLE. He has so much hair I can’t stand it. I also can’t stand it that I forgot to take pictures at the baby shower. Sigh. I think I was just enjoying the moments hanging out with friends that I haven’t seen in a while, so I guess it is ok.
Anyhow, I had the privilege of doing a little devotional for Becca and baby Caleb at the shower. I spent a few minutes talking about the characteristics of Caleb in the Bible, and how we can apply that to our lives. Then I read a couple pages out of one of my favorite adoption books, Adopted for Life.
I know it is a little weird that I did a book plug last week and one this week, but since this one is fresh in my mind I wanted to mention it here on the blog. If you are considering adoption, know someone who has adopted, or you have adopted, I’d highly recommend this book. As the subtitle suggests, the author is a Christian and the first part of this book provides a theological basis for adoption (don’t worry, it isn’t a hard read). The second part of the book has more of the practical aspects of adoption. This is, by far, my favorite book about adoption so far.
One more fun thing. A few weeks ago I found a necklace on pinterest that said “y’all” on it. I thought it would be SO FUN to get Becca and myself matching necklaces since both our sons were born down in Texas. Unfortunately, the price for that particular necklace was waaaay out of my price range. Etsy to the rescue. I found etsy store Sierra Metal Design and had the PERFECT necklace made that not only incorporated the “y’all”, but I also added a Bible passage that talks about God adopting each of us. I love it. The price was perfect, it came fast, and Alicia was awesome to work with. Here is what she made:
I just love it! Well, there you have it. A new piece of jewelry to love and a new book to read. :-) I hope you guys have a fantastic Monday!
