I have the Christmas bug.
I know, it isn’t even the middle of October, but I keep thinking of Christmas and all the fun it is and all the fun gifts I can give people. In fact, I’ve already bought THREE PRESENTS. I have never bought anything so early before.
Speaking of presents…when Aaron and I first got married (11 years ago) we were pretty much broke at Christmastime our first married Christmas. I was still in school and he was working at Menards. Exciting. When you have no money and no Christmas decorations you end up with a really sad looking tree. Shortly after that Aaron and I decided to make it a tradition that every year we buy each other a Christmas ornament. (I know, so original, lots of people do it.) Then, Jen lived with us for a little while during college, and her stay happened to coincide with Christmas. She got in with our tradition. When kids came along we decided to buy each one of them an ornament so that when they move out of the house someday they’ll have a collection of ornaments to hang on their tree. So that equals 7 ornaments that Aaron and I buy (3 for the kids, one for each other, and we each buy for Jen).
Wow that was a long paragraph.
So anyway, this year I’m thinking of buying ornaments off Etsy. Last year I waited WAY too long to do Etsy shopping for Christmas, and I have LEARNED MY LESSON. Etsy shopping is commencing NOW.
I found this amazing yarn ornament from Viscous Kitsch:
Aaron would think these would be funny if I chose something like these BACON ornaments from Olechka Design:
This ornament from Just 4 Christmas is just beautiful, and I think it would stand out so lovely from the green of a Christmas tree.
And it might be fun this year to get the kids all matching ornaments, so one they grow up there will always be something on their trees that connects them to each other! Plus, when they are little, there isn’t a whole lot going on to buy ornaments that connect to their lives right now- Elias is really into eating bottles this year! I’ll get him a bottle ornament! Dumb. I like these ornaments from So Simple So Sweet:
That’s what I’m finding so far! Anybody else getting the Christmas bug? Anybody planning on doing Etsy shopping this year?
