FFFA: The Lovely Jodi Greenlee & a Scarf Swap Update!

Filed Under: accessories, for the girl by Jen — 12 Comments
November 4, 2011

Today I am thankful for my friend Jodi Greenlee. I met Jodi on the World Race and she has deeply impacted my life.  Jodi is the type of person who can see into your life and know when something is wrong and speak life back into you.  She is bold enough to ask you those tough questions that you don’t really want to deal with or gently show you where you may have acted in a not-so Christ-like way.  She is right there to laugh along side you when you are full of joy or sit and scratch your back and pray over you when you are full of hurt.

Since the World Race, Jodi has moved back to the Philippines to open up a rehabilitation center for troubled boys.  She is following God’s calling on her life and walking in obedience.  I am so proud of the woman of God that she is and how she tries each and every day to be more like the One who created her.  You can read more about Jodi and her rehabilitation center here.

I miss Jodi dearly and would give anything to get a Jodi hug and share a Eurocream pancake with her.  But I know she is where God wants her to be.  So thank you, God, for putting this beautiful woman in my life.

{me and Jodi at Snooze in Denver while she was home on furlough…don’t worry Marissa and Kendra, I’m thankful for you too!!)

We mentioned this a while back but the lovely Krysten over at Why Girls Are Weird hosted a fall Scarf Swap.  I participated (with Katie’s help of course).  This was our first ever blog swap so we weren’t quite sure what to expect/do.  I think we definitely should have made our package a bit more interesting…sorry Megan!! (Megan over at Everyday Nonsense was my partner in this swap.)  She’s doing a Shutterfly giveaway on her blog through Friday night so make sure you head over there and sign up!!

I got my package on Monday and I was SO EXCITED.  I get overly excited for anything in my mailbox that has my name handwritten on it so seeing this huge package made me even more excited!  :)   Here is what I received.

An infinity scarf (which is my new-found love).

A candle. (I am in dire need of a new candle so this was PERFECT and it smells amazing!!)

A mustard yellow ring and hair pin.  (You all know how obsessed Katie and I are with mustard yellow and my short hair definitely needs cute hair pins.)

Bath and Body Works fall collection (lotion, body wash and hand sanitizer)…all in FALL scents, my favorite!!

Thank you a million times Megan!!  I love all of my gifts and I can’t wait to put them all to good use!!  Make sure you all head on over to Everyday Nonsense and leave Megan some love!

And here are some links I loved this week:

-this amazing girl made a mug with ME AS THE INSPIRATION.  my heart skipped a beat. (don’t forget that you can order anything from her store and get 10% off with the code PPS10!!)

-you know our fascination with pillows…this woman tells you how to make slipcovers for them.  a-ma-zing.

-got leftover Halloween candy?  this lovely gal shows you amazing recipes to use up all that candy!

our first freebie

WE GOT A FREEBIE!!!!!!!!!!!!  WOOOHOOO!!  Ok, let me calm down…remember the other day when we felt like we were an infomercial?  And then we mentioned that we don’t get any compensation for blogging about the stuff we like?  Well, last week we got a little surprise.  Remember the infinity scarf that we featured from  TomieHarlene?  Well, the lovely owner Sue sent Katie and me our very own scarf!!!  We couldn’t be more thrilled.  She was kind enough to send us each one so we have a brighter pink (naturally I took that one) and a softer pink (for my lovely sister).  Doesn’t it look beautiful (or maybe I should say doesn’t the scarf…I look a bit scary…)?

We love love love our new scarves!  Since we usually don’t purchase the things we blog about (we’d be broke if we purchased everything!) it was such a great surprise to see that something that we love online actually is fantastic in real life!  Thank you so much Sue!!  And don’t forget, it’s still October (but not for long!) to go purchase your own infinity scarf or any of the other amazing stores and products who support breast cancer research/awareness during the month of October.

A scarf to help, a scarf to swap

Filed Under: accessories, Breast Cancer Awareness Products, for the girl by Jen — 1 Comment
October 10, 2011

I have a scarf fetish.  When I used to work at Maurices they used to call me the “scarf girl” because I would literally wear scarves every day.  I love them!  They’re like my security blanket.  I love to wear big cozy scarves in the winter to keep me warm and lighter-weight ones in the summer.  I probably have 20ish.  When Katie found this scarf I knew it would be the perfect addition to my scarf collection.

This scarf comes from TomieHarlene another lovely etsy store!  Like Katie mentioned lat week and this morning, we wanted to highlight some of our favorite products that are giving money for cancer research.  According to Sue, the owner’s, site this is a Scarf with a Cause.  A portion of the proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for any hot pink or pink azalea infinity scarf purchased.  And with this scarf being only $16 it will be a very affordable way to help good cause!  Are there any products that you like to purchase to benefit breast cancer treatment or the Susan G. Komen Foundation?  We love all of the scarves that Sue from TomieHarlene has in her store.  They are all the infinity style which I love and are all extremely affordable.  She even has some denim ones which is a fun twist (no pun intended haha).

Related to scarves, Krysten over at Why Girls Are Weird is doing a scarf swap!  Not just any scarf swap but a Keep Warm, Look Snazzy Scarf Swap!!

Below is all of the info that you need for the swap taken from Krysten’s site.
All About The Swap in Krysten’s words:
Autumn is my absolute favorite time of year – the crisp weather, the gorgeous colors, the amazing food and of course the fun things that you get to wear.  I know you all are nodding your heads right now.  The Keep Warm, Look Snazzy Scarf Swap is all about the lovely things that go along with Autumn.  The only thing that must be included in the swap is, of course, a beautiful scarf.  Otherwise, you have free reign to include as little or as much as you’d like in your swap package.
Pair Ups
You may request to either have a partner within the U.S. or outside of the U.S.  This is so that all international bloggers can take part as well!  Keep in mind if you are within the U.S. and request to have an international partner you’ll be paying extra shipping which is not to be included in the price of your swap items.
Dates
Sign ups will remain open until October 12th, 2011.  Your swap partner will be emailed to you on October 13th, 2011.  Please make sure to have your package sent out by October 27th, 2011.  Starting on November 4th, 2011, I’d love to have anyone who signed up for the swap posting about the packages they received!  Krysten be having a fun link up party on her site so you’ll be able to check up other swap partners and what they got!
Requirements
1. You must have an active blog you participate.
2. Please keep within the price requirements – around $25 to $30.  If you are handmaking anything try to make sure the total package is around those amounts.
3. Include a scarf!
4. If you join, please be respectful of the date requirements.
5. If you join the swap make sure you’re serious about it!  Your partner will be sending you something fun, make sure you’re doing the same.
