It has been a LOOOONG time since I have updated any of you on the progress we’ve been making on the kids’ rooms. The reason for that is simple. We haven’t done much!! Decorating just hasn’t really been high on the priority list. That changed a few months ago when we decided to move the girls’ together in the upstairs bedroom and put Elias in the main floor room by himself. This was the long term plan, and we weren’t planning on making the switch till Adlee was out of diapers, but I guess plans can change, right? After we moved Adlee to the toddler bed it just seemed to make more sense to put the girls together.
Yep.
So that got me to decorating! It took a while to get things to a place that I am satisfied with, but for right now I’m really liking what we’ve got going on. I hope you enjoy the update.
And just to refresh your memory, the “before” pictures are when the girls originally shared a room before Elias came along. The pictures below are from this post. Matea them moved to the guest room and the little kids shared this room after Elias came home. Now the girls are back together.
Also, real bloggers would have exact replica “before” and “after” photos. I don’t. I probably never will. Sorry.
Ok, so here is the before (looking through the door frame) and a view of the window seat:
and “after”- wall color is Dark Ash by Behr:

What is up with the clock on the nightstand? SO WEIRD.
Ok – another “before”:
and “after”:
Here is another part of the same wall “before” -
and “after” – you can see just barely see the start of the closet on the far right of the photo:
and a few more photos of the room…
I am constantly finding hair ties and barrettes all over the girls’ room, so I put a sundae dish on the dresser. We just throw them in there and it is actually working great!
A fun little project I did – these flowers were all silver (got them from Target 5 years ago) – I spray painted them yellow and then used nail polish to color the middle a sparkly white!
Oh – and here is a little close up of the trunk I painted with that weird paint that I mentioned on facebook a few weeks back. I didn’t love it at first, but I think it is growing on me. The trunk is falling apart (literally), so I don’t want to invest too much time or money into it. I think it works for now!
So there you have it – an update on the girls’ room. It is one of the first rooms that I feel like I can say is “done” – at least for now!

I am madly in love with that wall color. Great choice! I hope the girls love it. I don’t see how they couldn’t!!
It is perfectly feminine without being sickeningly girly. Best girl room I’ve seen in a long time! Great job!
Love it! I really like the flowers you painted. Giving me ideas.
It’s SOOO pretty! I never would’ve thought to use that wall color, but now that I see it, I’m in LOVE. Well done mama!
AHHHH! I love love love love the charcoal walls. It makes the print by Aimee totally pop off the wall as well as all the other lovely accessories. I also love that you did chicken coop wire behind the little pin frame. I made one to do a craft tutorial on a while back and have been watching it evolve through the seasons but now I have more to suggest to readers! WAY TO GO YOU!
I LOVE that trunk! Looks girly and vintage all at the same time. It caught my eye before you even commented on it!
Oh my goodness, I love this all so much!! I love that it’s feminine without being a pink explosion
