Aaron and I took off for 4 days to Dallas with some friends and without kids. It was SO GREAT!!!! I have never been to Dallas before (except for driving through it on our way to get Elias) and I seriously loved it. I would definitely go back. Texans seem to have such state pride….it was really cool to experience. The Texas state flag was almost ALWAYS flying right next to the American flag. Every single person we encountered was nice and had gracious.
Does anyone care to see a few pics? I have no idea if people like these things or not. I didn’t take a ton of photos..so here are a couple.
Our hotel had a kitchenette so we went to the farmers market! Please remember there is a foot of snow outside my window right now, and up to 12 more inches are supposed to fall by the end of the day Friday. This was the most beautiful sight:
We went to see competitive bull riding!! It was awesome. One guy got really hurt and had to be carried off on a backboard. That was not so awesome. Here is my friend Anna and me. We have been friends for 12ish years.
I think my favorite thing that we did was go to the site where JFK was assasinated. It was pretty eerie. They have two marks in the road that show exactly where he was when the shots hit him:
I didn’t realize that the government admitted that there had to be more than one shooter. I am going to check a book or two out of the library and learn more about the conspiracy theories. I am almost convinced. After watching all the 24 seasons I believe pretty much anything government related!
All in all it was a great trip. The flights home were pretty disastrous, but, we made it. I had no motivation to do ANYTHING yesterday, so all unpacking/laundry/etc. will all be done today. Coming back from time away is tough. But it is worth it to be gone!
I am dying for spring though…the tulips were starting to bloom at the arboretum. I have never seen tulips like these before. I think they are beautiful!
