Today the HIGH is -3.  Exciting, I tell you.  Tomorrow the high is 6, so we’ll be moving on up in the world.  The extended forecast is looking much better (upper 20s and lower 30s), but today I figured I’d tell you about how I copied Jen.

You may remember last year when Jen didn’t buy an amazing Mountain Hardware jacket at a great price.  You can read her saga here (don’t worry, it isn’t too long).  And then she found her amazing North Face jacket.  (Which you can read about that here if your heart desires).  My sister is cute so here she is in a photo from last year in her amazing jacket.  BTW, Jen, I like your hair here.

I never really got the appeal of long coats until just recently.  Imagine me, now with 3 kids,  leaning inside a van (butt and legs out in the cold) buckling in two kids under the age of 2 into their RIDICULOUSLY ANNOYING car seats.  (I hate car seats in the winter.)  All winter, as I stand outside with my butt literally freezing, I think “what I wouldn’t give to have a long jacket right now.”

I then realized the brilliance of Jen’s ways and decided that at the end of the season when winter coats go on sale I, too, would have a long winter jacket.

So, I peeked around at stores as I’d stop in, but nothing really caught my eye….until a few weeks ago I randomly stopped in JCPenny.  I found the perfect winter jacket….and didn’t buy it.  (I clearly did not remember Jen’s first sad story).  I drove home and immediately regretted it.  Oh well, I said to myself, I’ll just find it online.  The dumb jacket was NOWHERE TO BE FOUND.  It must have been last year’s model or something, I have no idea.

Anyway, 3 days later I called the store and they STILL HAD IT!!!  It was originally $150, marked down to $110.  But it was listed for $105 (and “not available”) on their website…so I printed off the price/photo and showed it to the cashier who gave it to me for $105.  Halleluiah.

That photo is not me, it is from the JCP website.  Anyway, I seriously LOOOVE this jacket.  And, now that I’m writing this, I don’t know if I ever even told Jen that she inspired me to get a long coat.  She was in Europe when I bought it.  Jen, your fashion sense is brilliant.  I copied you.  I hope that is ok.
