I LOVE FRIDAYS! I get to write about whatever I want and not ask Jen.
Ok funny story for you.
Wednesday night at 9:00 the smoke detectors went off upstairs where the bedrooms are. It was insanely loud. The smoke detectors are hardwired into the ceiling, so they were ALL GOING OFF. The only way we could get them to shut off was to shut the power off to the upstairs. Adlee woke up and was crying (of course) but MATEA SLEPT THROUGH IT. I was shocked. And it kinda freaked me out a little bit. Page, our dog, had a panic attack, followed Aaron out to the garage where the circuit breaker is, and she peed in the garage. It was crazy.
We turned the power back on Thursday morning and all was back to normal. So weird.
Ok. Moving on.
I like this rug. If our house in Duluth ever sells and if we ever get to redo our main floor I think I would like it in my kitchen:

I didn’t think I like chevron, but maybe I do, I don’t know.
I really want a square upholstered coffee table in my living room. Do I need one? No. Do I want one? Yes. Do I want to make one? Sure. Well, do I ACTUALLY REALLY want to make one? No, I’d rather buy one. I like this one from Fancy Goods, and she gives some really good instructions…maybe someday I’ll tackle one.
Carol from The Design Pages painted a piece of furniture this color and it turned out amazing:
I love it. Check it out.
I think this looks really delicious.

In other news, I’m trying to find some good “money saving” blogs. Any tips?
Next week I think I will start The Great Room Shuffle at our house. I’ll fill you in with photos when we start moving everybody around.
And in a few short hours I will be seeing this:

That lift bridge is just a beauty.

Do you follow southernsavers.com or moneysavingmom.com? Those are my favorites. ChristianPF is another good money-related blog, but it’s more about personal finance.
I love that chevron rug!
When I was in high school I babysat this newborn kid for months and months every weekend. I never saw his eyes … he always slept the WHOLE time. Till the week before Thanksgiving, when he woke up, cried and cried and cried, puked all over me, himself, the chair, and the carpet, cried and cried and cried some more, for HOURS till he FINALLY went back to sleep. By that time I had to pee but I didn’t want to risk waking him up to use the upstairs bathroom. It was a big house, I figured there had to be a powder room downstairs. Three doors in a row…no idea what they went to. I opened door #3. Wrong one. It was the garage. The house alarm went off and it was SO. LOUD. For like 10 minutes. The parents called and asked if everything was ok and by this time I was in hysterics. They told me how to shut it off and then the cops arrived and I’m covered in puke and I don’t want to risk opening the front door and setting off the alarm again so I’m shouting through the door. Yeah, kid slept through the WHOLE THING! I never did really like babysitting…
Anyway, long story, but yeah, crazy that anybody can sleep through that racket!
Ohh Katie,
I absolutely love your posts. Hope you and Jen had a fantastic weekend in Duluth. That just seems like a wonderful place to visit. Hope the breakers and everything else in the house is fixed.
